Lampard
"I can't imagine playing for anyone else after being 12 years at Chelsea. I've got a lot of respect for a lot of other Premier League clubs, particularly the top ones, but I'm not sure I could have done that." - Frank Lampard in May 2013

Messi
"Messi must win a world cup to be compared to Maradona", I read this today and what an absolute load of shite. Di Stefano NEVER played a world cup yet he is considered one of the best players to ever graced a football pitch.
I for one, think, Messi has already earned his status as one of the very best, up there with Maradona, Pele, Eusebio, etc... regardless of world cup success. His club record is unique, phenomenal and unmatched. We're privileged to be living in an era with 2 "beasts" in Messi and C Ronaldo, and the stupid comparisons with other greats just seems more for PR purposes really.
Just shut up and enjoy.

Everton sign Gareth Barry
Gareth Barry has agreed a three year contract with Everton.
The 33-year-old had offers from West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham after the end of the season when his contract ended at Manchester City. However, Everton have handed him a deal worth around £55,000 a week and subsequently paid Manchester City £2million as according to the terms of the initial loan deal last summer.

Liverpool close on Markovic
A wonderkid. Phenomenal technique & skills, be it dribbling, picking a pass or scoring, the Serbian has everything to be a star. He's a major asset for Benfica and losing him will be a big blow to Benfica's ambitions. £20M, as reported, seems a bargain.
